Closed circuit television is simply called video surveillance. CCTV refers to a system where video cameras send a video feed within a closed circuit to the recorder or a display unit. CCTV differs from broadcast television, where anybody can view broadcast video. In a CCTV system, only authorized users are allowed.

Camera:
Collects optical information from the field and converts it to electrical signals, there are some camera's e.g. Dome Camera's for indoor purpose, Bullet Camera's for outdoor purpose, PTZ Plan, tilt, zoom Camera's for outdoor purpose for backup camera.
DVR/NVR Recorder:
Converts the electrical signals into the meaningful images which can monitored & the device that records video from up to a couple or more surveillance camera's on to a hard disk and monitor live camera's through mobile, tablet, PC or from other electronic devices.
Cable & Connectors:
Transfer the electrical Signals to record for live viewing & recording, there are some of cables e.g. coaxial, RJ6, RJ11, 3+1, 4+1, Cat 6 etc.
Smart Surveillance System:
A hard disk drive (HDD)/ Solid State Drive (SSD), is an electro-mechanical data storage device that stores and retrieves digital data using magnetic storage with one or more rigid rapidly rotating platters coated with magnetic material.
A CCTV power supply box, also known as a power distribution box, allows surveillance system installers to easily manage the power to multiple CCTV cameras at a central point (usually at the location of the DVR). This allows your camera installation to be neater.
